Where: Our farm (address will be sent to each customer – if you want to order now, we have a few extras, please just email me and I will send you the address!)

I am happy to report that Sonshine Acre Chicken Meats, though we sell meat, got its first egg today! My Blue frizzle silkie laid it earlier today – out on the concrete pad of our barn! I moved it out of harm’s way. Seeing that means she is likely to start laying regularly for the next two years or so! One confirmed female finally!
The egg, a light creamy white colour, was about 2″ long and about 1/2″ wide. It was normal weight with two small blemishes on the underside.
Nesting time is usually a 4 step process. Kay, Fefe and Cece (KFC) are put in their cage, meat birds are checked, Roosters (Boaz and Elimelech) are shooed into the run-through, and then Mary and April are put down for the night.
However, tonight Boaz was a bit cocky.. and decided to roost on top of our horse, Batman. The picture was not edited or photo-shopped- he actually managed to fly up onto his back! Despite what most people think, chickens have the ability to fly. They do so for fairly short distances, but can get quite high up and travel quite far. Boaz is not the leanest bird, so his feat was doubly impressive 🙂
Needless to say the jump down was a little more of a trick!
We are almost sold out for the 1st batch of birds in 2017. If you would like to pre-order before it is to late, head over to our order page here. You can also message us via Facebook, phone (226-774-1998), or email (email@example.com)
